Indian Jamdani cottons are usually quite sheer with beautiful shapes and patterns that are created directly on the loom by hand. Each motif has to be inlaid into the fabric by adding denser threads to fine warp threads. It is a highly skilled craft that is labour intensive made by master weavers. Cotton Jamdani can be used for semi shear curtains or for dresses, tops and skirts with a similar weight lining fabric. We have travelled to the villages in India where these cottons are made and seen first hand the exquisite attention to detail that is needed.
