Description:

A pullover unisex smock with integrated pocket. Lengthen the pattern where indicated for men's sizing.

This pattern is designed for mid weight utility fabrics like denim and canvas, the heavier the fabric the more structured your silhouette will be. Lighter weight fabrics will result in a more relaxed, softer silhouette.

All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless stated otherwise and are included in the pattern.

Skill level; Intermediate.

Suitable fabrics - 8-12oz cotton canvas and twill, dry oilskin and oilskin, 8 -14oz denim and corduroy. A heavier weight cloth will result in a more structured jacket.

PDF VS PAPER

If you order a paper copy you will be sent a printed version of our pattern. If you select PDF, you are purchasing a digital file which will be stored on your account to be downloaded at any time. PDF's will include a tiled, an A0 copy shop file and your instructions. The tiled file can be used on any home printer and stuck together and is compatible with both A4 and US letter paper. Alternatively, you can send off the copy shop file to be printed full size; we can usually recommend someone in your area. If you are in the UK, we would recommend The Fold Line. The instructions can either be printed at home or simply follow along on your computer or phone.

Tash wears a small Ludlow in Ecru Washed Japanese Canvas.

The denim used for Seb’s sample has now sold out, but this was a 12oz denim which is an ideal weight for Ludlow.

Ludlow Hack

We released The Ludlow pattern in 2024, a smock top for artists, makers and dog walkers, named after Ludlow St in NYC, once the home of poverty stricken artists. This year we've revisted this popular pullover, turning it into a short sleeved dress with a simple alteration to the length of the hem and sleeves. The Ludlow dress has a crisp and smart utility feel. It would work well in cotton poplin or chambray, hemp/cotton or lighter 4-5oz denims.

You can find the instructions for the alterations here.

Please note you will need the original Ludlow pattern.

We chose to make ours in Navy Japanese Poplin.

Getting Dressed with Dan

Getting dressed with Dan. We invited our dear friend Dan for a dress up session at the shop with free rein to explore and try on our full range of sewing pattern samples. These are the outfits he chose.Come and have your own try on session! All of our samples will be available to try at our birthday party on Saturday 30th August.
