THE FLORENCE X EDIE HYBRID HACK
When Ellie showed up to our Christmas party in this amazing Florence dress with Edie sleeves, we immediately knew we had to share the pattern hack with you.
To recreate this dress, you’ll need both The Florence and The Edie, which are both available as a PDF and paper pattern in sizes 6 – 28. As The Florence pattern has a set-in sleeve and The Edie is a dropped shoulder sleeve – the hybrid sleeve will get sewn into the Florence bodice and the sleeve will shorten as it’s sitting higher up the arm.
The Florence x Edie hybrid is sewn up here in Renaissance linen. It would also look great in 185 linen or Tencel/Twill.
Ellie sewed up a size 10, with a finished length of 104cm, measured at the CB. She also chose to add an 8cm hem facing. The instructions below are based on this size, so we always recommend making a toile first. For a size 10, 3 meters of fabric were used. See below images for step by step instructions on how to create a hybrid Florence x Edie sleeve.
Once you’ve adjusted the sleeve pattern piece, follow The Florence instructions when sewing up your garment. When you set in your sleeves, follow The Edie instructions.
