Description:

Eucalyptus is a cotton canvas from Japan. The canvas has been given an enzyme wash which gives it a distinctive washed out and aged appearance.

  • Washed out khaki shade.
  • 125cm wide.
  • 13.5oz, 386gsm.
  • 100% cotton.
  • Country of origin; Japan.
  • Wash at 30 degrees.
  • Please be aware that because of the washing at the mill the selvedges can sometimes become distressed.
  • As all computer monitors show colours differently, we recommend ordering a sample of the cloth to check it is the right colour and weight for your project.
  • Thread match Gutermann Sew All 972.

This is a midweight cotton with good structure. We have used it to make our Eve trousers (pictured), the Foreman and Ottoline jackets.

We have this cloth in three colours - please click on alternative fabrics to see the others.

Washing Instructions

We recommend pre washing your fabric before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavy weight canvas into the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the fabric, this is because it is a stiff fabric so it doesn’t have room to move around. We recommend doing the following to help this not to happen:

  • Wash your fabric on its own for the first wash.
  • Sink your fabric in water before hand, letting it fully absorb, so you are putting in the canvas already wet.
  • If you can break up your fabric into half this will help.
  • For the first wash use a delicate 30 degree cycle with a low spin.
  • If any white creases develop, ironing on a medium heat whilst still damp will help.
  • Can be tumble dried on a low heat.

When you have made the garment we would recommend washing it inside out.
