Description:

Kick off your day with our feminine semi-fitted take on the traditional rugby shirt. Make a try for contrast collar, cuffs and placket or stand firm in a solid colour throughout.

Size UK 6 - 18.

All seam allowances are 1cm unless otherwise stated.

Skill level - intermediate.

This PDF pattern is made up of 2 A0 pages and 33 A4 pages.

Fabric suggestions - suitable for linen or light wools, light to medium weight woven cottons such as drill or sanded canvas.

Paper vs PDF

If you order a paper copy you will be sent a printed version of our pattern. If you select PDF, you are purchasing a digital file which will be stored on your account to be downloaded at any time. PDF's will include a tiled, an A0 copy shop file and your instructions. The tiled file can be used on any home printer and stuck together and is compatible with both A4 and US letter paper. Alternatively, you can send off the copy shop file to be printed full size; we can usually recommend someone in your area. If you are in the UK, we would recommend The Fold Line. The instructions can either be printed at home or simply follow along on your computer or phone.

Styling with Jill

Jill came to our Social Club event with her family last September. We instantly loved her energy, her style and her warmth. She is a keen maker and a joyful dresser, favouring easy shapes and bright, primary colours.Her mother made all her clothes until she was 13 after which she was given the tools to make her own and, in Jill’s own words: “I was away”. She has sewn on and off for her whole life. Now, in her 80’s, she is as playful as ever.We gave Jill free rein to put together outfits, pairing her own makes with samples from the shop. The Rugby Hack

This is a hack for creating the Rugby dress with a gathered back. The Rugby is a neat fitting straight garment but introducing the gathers creates some fullness. You can add in more fullness than we have but be mindful how much, as too much could create heaviness and pulling.

Our models are a size 12, 5.8, and are wearing a size 12. This dress is made our of Sugar Cookie Stripe Linen with the contrast being Virgin White 185 linen.
