Factory Gathered Skirt Dress Hack

2025 marks our fifteenth year sharing fabrics, patterns and ideas. To celebrate our journey, this year we’re re-visiting some of our oldest, best-selling patterns, re-imagining the shapes and celebrating the versatility of these classic designs.
Our Factory dress pattern was designed in 2013 and remains a bestseller today. This year we welcome two new variations…

A simple alteration to the Factory pattern made by adding a long, gathered skirt for a relaxed summer dress feel. You can find the instructions on how to do this here. Or you can purchase our Factory dress pattern addition here to completely re-imagined the shape to include a boat neck, a wide sleeve and a gathered, swishy skirt.

Please do note for both of these variations you will need the original Factory dress pattern.

We chose to make our gathered skirt factory in Daffodilly and the boat neck factory in F ruit Cake.
