IN THE NEWS – SEPTEMBER

Hole & Corner – The Material Issue

Hole & Corner is an independent publication, dedicated to stories of craft, beauty, passion and skill. In their current issue ‘Material’ our director Roderick Field, explores the home of tweed, in the Outer Hebrides and how the very nature of the land influences the cloth. You can explore more in the issue, or buy the printed version here.

Pom Pom Magazine – Autumn Issue

Pom Pom magazine is a beautiful independent knitting magazine. Their current issue is full of autumnal rich colours. Usually only featuring knitting patterns their guest editor JuJu Vail wanted to inspire readers to create the ultimate handmade wardrobe, so not just knits, fabric clothing too! They have used our Strand coat made from Bernera Harris Tweed, our Mono Marbled Web  cotton to make a Camber Tee and Woolsey Oxblood to make the Tessuti Lily dress. Editor Lydia and JuJu also spent the afternoon with Carolyn in our favourite local cafe discussing how Merchant & Mills began and where we are headed.

Liberty of London Feature

We’d only been in our premises two minutes when the editorial team from Liberty traveled to Rye for a photo shoot. We made up three of our patterns, the 101 TrousersRugby dress, and Ellis dress in their fabrics. After far too much time spent perusing their fabric online we settled on  this beautiful silk satina dusky green tana lawn with ships in a bottle, and this mottled purple tana lawn.  You can read the full feature here, where Carolyn talks about starting up Merchant & Mills and gives some tips about sewing with Tana Lawn and Silk.
