Japanese Vintage Boro Monpe

Boro monpe or traditional farmer’s work trousers with a very fine samekomon pattern. These are roughly early Showa era 1926-1945.

Boro is a traditional Japanese practice of repeatedly repairing fabric through piecing together indigo dyed cotton and hand stitching to extend their use through generations.

The organic process of mending and stitching creates beautifully evolved textiles with unique colours, designs and patina.  

These could be used for wall hangings or creative projects.

These textiles are antiques, so they will show visible signs of wear and ageing – adding to their beauty.

We do not recommend washing.
