Description:

A unique handcrafted cloth woven in a navy Kala cotton. Glass mirrors called Abhla have been embroidered onto the cloth by hand. Abhla is translated as 'bits of sky' so dress yourself in fabric that reflects the sky!

Kala cotton is a purely rain fed cotton indigenous to the kachchh region of India. It is grown in a sustainable way due to the resilient nature of the plant, the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are not needed. It forms a strong and coarse fibre that produces a uniquely textured cloth.

This cloth would make beautiful skirts, dresses, tops and shirts. It would also be suitable for lightweight curtains.

  • 4.1oz, 140gsm.
  • 115cm wide.
  • 100% cotton.
  • Embroidered mirror - 8mm
  • Country of origin; India.
  • Indian handlooms are sometimes susceptible to irregularities in the weave due to their handmade nature, this is all part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.
  • For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum at 30 or 40 degrees with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running.
  • As all computer monitors show colours differently, we recommend ordering a sample of the cloth to check it is the right colour and weight for your project.
  • Thread match Gutermann Sew All: 13.
