Description:

An organic cotton voile which is soft, lightweight, and comfortable on the skin.

It is semi-sheer with a gentle drape, you could use it as one layer or doubled up. Note if you are using it as one layer you’ll see what you are wearing underneath, less so with the darker colours. Also ideal for facings and linings.

This cloth is suitable for the following patterns in our Workbook: Bantam, Heron and Curlew top.

  • 115cm wide.
  • 100% organic cotton.
  • Country of origin; India.
  • Organic cotton is prone to occasional white slubs, these are not flaws.
  • Wash at 30/40 degrees, with a non bio detergent, and on a gentle spin. Always pre wash your cloth before sewing to get rid of any shrinkage.
  • This cotton is Oeko-Tex and GOTS certified.
  • As all computer monitors show colours differently, we recommend ordering a sample of the cloth to check it is the right colour and weight for your project.
  • Thread match Gutermann Sew All 111.

We have taken our popular Ellis pattern and reimagined it in sheer fabric with a full sleeve and placket and ‘let down’ tucks. We’ve also given the option for adding a lining to the bodice and skirt which you’ll need with a sheer cloth. Our organic cotton voile is perfect for this hack as well as our Indian dobby spots.

Organic Cotton Voile 

In our continual effort to move over our cloth ranges to a more sustainable option, we have discontinued our cotton muslin for this organic cotton voile. If you have bought our muslin before the main difference is this is much softer and has a higher thread count. It has a very smooth surface, and just feels great against the skin!

This cotton is Oeko-Tex and GOTS certified, and is made in India. It’s 115cm wide and £6.50/m.

We have 17 unique to us shades, pictured is Payton, which is a grey shade with a slight hint of green.

It is semi-sheer with a gentle drape, you could use it as one layer or doubled up. Note if you are using it as one layer you’ll see what you are wearing underneath, less so with the darker colours. It would also be good for facings and linings.

We have made an Edie top using a double layer for the body, but leaving the arms as a single layer. If you’d like to make an Edie like this we have made this PDF. It details what steps you’ll need to do differently.
