Description:

The Eve Trouser is cropped, with a slightly tapered leg and optional turn ups. It's an easy garment to make, fitting neatly at the waist and over the hips with a simple side zip and two back pockets. Choose to make pleats or darts into the waist seam.

*Please note that size 18 - 28 has some elastic inserted into that back of the waistband to improve the fit of the trousers.

All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.

Skill level - intermediate.

This PDF pattern is made up of 2 A0 pages and 33 A4 pages.

Fabric suggestions - The Eve Trousers are ideally suited to a mid-heavyweight cotton canvas, as this keeps the structured shape. Our 8oz and 12oz Organic Sanded Twills are ideal. Other options would be corduroy, light-medium weight woollens and 7 - 12oz denim. You can use lighter weight cloths like linen and potentially a Tencel/linen but this will give you a softer silhouette.

Paper vs PDF

If you order a paper copy you will be sent a printed version of our pattern. If you select PDF, you are purchasing a digital file which will be stored on your account to be downloaded at any time. PDF's will include a tiled, an A0 copy shop file and your instructions. The tiled file can be used on any home printer and stuck together and is compatible with both A4 and US letter paper. Alternatively, you can send off the copy shop file to be printed full size; we can usually recommend someone in your area. If you are in the UK, we would recommend The Fold Line. The instructions can either be printed at home or simply follow along on your computer or phone.

Wide Leg Eve Pattern Hack

Our web assistant Pia made these great wide leg Eve trousers, with just a few simple adjustments using the 101 trousers. To make this version you will need the wide leg version of the 101.

Pia used our 12oz Organic Twill in Stanley Tan. The shirt is the Ellsworth pattern, and has been made using the Tumbled Linen Warm White 160 linen. You can find the 101 pattern here, and the Eve pattern here.

These illustrations are not to scale, Pia used a size 8 pattern.

Repeat these steps for the back leg.

Pattern – Foreman jacket. Elwen made a size 38 with no modifications apart from lengthening the sleeves by 5cm. The Saltmarsh skirt is from the Workbook and has been shortened by 30cm.

Fabric – Acid House linen, buttons are Nero.

Pattern – Ottoline and Eve. Both size 10. Elwen has used the selvedge of Aki on the top pocket.

Fabric – Aki, a Japanese canvas. Buttons are Nero. Elwen is wearing her Aki suit with the Jack Tar bag made in Stanley Tan.

Pattern – Edie top and Saltmarsh skirt (again shortened by 30cm). Both size 10.

Fabric – Borough Check linen.
