Sample of:
Deep moorland green with subtle flecks of mustard, browns and blue greens. 150cm wide. 290 - 310gsm, can vary due to being hand woven. Cold hand wash or dry clean.
Made with 100% pure virgin wool, dyed, spun and finished in the Outer Hebrides. The wool is woven by hand by the Islanders in their homes on the Islands of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra. Tweed is an immensely practical material and was born out of drizzly highland weather, harsh moorlands and men who work the land. Historically, when an estate owner wanted to chose a tweed for his his gamekeepers, his tailor would dress them in a range of cloths then send them out on to the moors. When the first gamekeeper disappeared from view they knew which tweed to chose.
