Jamdani Handwoven Cotton

A bright red cotton check with a charming Jamdani border of diamonds and abstract geometric shapes. Jamdani is fine muslin cotton with small geometric motifs, it’s a highly skilled weaving technique that has been practiced in India for centuries. This cloth comes alive once washed, it gets much softer and has a beautiful slub and texture.

Our Indian handlooms are delicate and lightweight, so perfect for Summer sewing. They can be used for scarves, tops or dresses with some fullness and the decorative border could be used on the bottom of skirts or dresses for example.You can also use them for patchwork or home projects like semi sheer curtains.

• 117cm wide.
• 100% cotton.
• 19cm Jamdani border, 43cm repeat, diamonds are 5x4cm.
• For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running.
• Wash at 30 or 40 degrees with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble dry.
• As our Indian cloth is handmade, they are susceptible to irregularities in the weave or print, this is all part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.
• As all computer monitors show colours differently, we recommend ordering a sample of the cloth to check it is the right colour and weight for your project.
