Faeger Traditional Ticking Rhubarb

This classic geranium leaf print would work perfectly as a curtain lining – perhaps mixed with a Swedish Stripe or Kelsch as the main fabric. A brick red.

Why is this called Ticking when it’s not a stripe? Derived from the Dutch word ’tike’ referring to a tightly woven heavy-duty utility fabric designed to act as a barrier. Not necessarily the traditional ‘stripe' we all know it as today. Traditional upholsterers would personalise their ticking calico with their own makers mark, using natural dye and a hand carved wooden hand block.

• For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running.
• Wash at 30 degrees with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble. Shake out and dry flat. Note this fabric has had a ‘mill wash’.
• As all computer monitors show colours differently, we recommend ordering a sample of the cloth to check it is the right colour and weight for your project.
