- Organic Cotton Oilskin - Grey
Organic Cotton Oilskin Grey
Description
The real thing - best quality traditional oilskin made in the UK, finished to age and wear beautifully.
It has a firm handle this fabric will give a distressed worn appearance when handled giving it a fast-tracked unique vintage aesthetic.
Battleship grey. Ideal for bags and accessories and particularly fab for an outdoor Top 64 and Landgate top.
- 150cm wide.
- 11.94oz, 405gsm.
- GOTs certified organic cotton.
- Country of origin; UK.
- A blend of oils and petroleum-based waxes are impregnated into the fibre and saturates the cloth, so the performance relies on a traditional wax/water resist application.
- Any darker patches on the finish is a result of wax dripping off squeeze rollers during application, the marks go away quickly as soon as the fabric is worked.
- Do not iron, just finger press.
- Not washable but can be re-oiled.
- Do not use any interfacing with this type of oilskin.
- We recommend sewing with a denim needle and 100% poly thread.
- As all computer monitors show colours differently, we recommend ordering a sample of the cloth to check it is the right colour and weight for your project.
- Thread match Gutermann Sew All 141.
All our oilskins are sent folded unless otherwise requested. There is an additional charge for oilskin orders to be sent rolled. Please see our FAQ section for details.
Washing Instructions
We recommend pre washing your fabric before sewing. Putting a large piece of medium-heavy weight cloth into the washing machine can sometimes lead to white creases in the fabric, this is because it is a stiff fabric so it doesn’t have room to move around. We recommend doing the following to help this not to happen:
- Wash your fabric on its own for the first wash.
- Sink your fabric in water before hand, letting it fully absorb, so you are putting in the cloth already wet.
- If you can break up your fabric into half this will help.
- For the first wash use a delicate 30 degree cycle with a low spin.
- If any white creases develop ironing whilst still damp will help.
- Do not tumble dry.
When you have made the garment we would recommend washing it inside out.
