Fabric for The Kiveton Coat

Fabric for The Kiveton Coat

A new unisex coat pattern inspired by the Donkey Jackets traditionally worn by coal merchants. The Kiveton is named after the mining village near where our founder Carolyn grew up in South Yorkshire. It's a practical and hard-working shape, the perfect vehicle for protective outerwear fabrics like warm, wool coating and water resistant cotton oilskin. The design features a detachable hood and deep, double hip pockets. This pattern comes in genderless sizing from XS - XXXL and can be made lined or unlined.

LININGS FOR THE KIVETON

You can make The Kiveton lined or unlined. When using an oilskin fabric we recommend lining with one of our barrier linings. Otherwise you can use a lightweight cotton, slip lining or even a brushed cotton for a warm and protective lining.

THE DESIGN OF WORKWEAR

The reinforced patches on the shoulders of the traditional Donkey Jacket offered the wearer further protection from the elements and any heavy loads they carried. On The Kiveton they afford an opportunity to play with contrasting fabrics. Try a classic wool coat with dry oilskin shoulder patches.
